Book Week celebrations

"Curious Creatures and Wild Minds" A display of the short listed and award winning books will be set up in the library during the week. All classes will get a chance to visit this display. All funds raised are going to the 'Indigenous Literacy Foundation'. The foundation distributes books to children in remote areas, offers translation of texts and sponsors indigenous writers. Unfortunately due to the ongoing COVID regulations there will be no parent participation in this week's celebrations. Looking forward to seeing all the wonderful costumes on Thursday & Friday.

Green Leaders Waste Audit

Hello Chrysalis! Thank you for allowing me to come on Friday to work with Class 6 in doing a Waste Audit at Chrysalis School. Despite getting a little chaotic at one stage, I think we had some great outcomes around looking at what waste the School generates, having a think about how we can repurpose items and taking responsibility for litter around the classrooms and high school area. Special thanks to our photographer, Sid, Kelley, and particularly the four girls pictured who so diligently worked at sorting, weighing and recording the waste data. The first picture shows the rubbish that…

Exciting news re Literacy and Numeracy Action Plan (LNAP)!!

As many of you know, the School has been working with a cross sectoral funded program to enhance literacy and numeracy in the early years.  This is our fourth year and was to be our final year ……… then along came the virus, which has disrupted our program. The great news is that we have been given a further year to participate in the program and will continue to receive funding until the end of 2021. The Association of Independent Schools will therefore be continuing to support us to bring evidence based research and best practices aligned with our Steiner…

Class 6 Fundraiser for schools in West New Britain, PNG

Our Class 6 students have been inspired by a story of need from a past teacher of Chrysalis, Nerrida Johnson, who is now a principal of a school in West New Britain PNG. Nerrida wrote a letter to the class outlining the challenges faced by students in West New Britain, including schools with no furniture or learning resources, and in some cases no classrooms. Class 6 were looking for a viable and doable fundraiser to do this year, and this fit perfectly into what the students wanted to do. The class discussed possible options of what they could do as…

Athletics Carnival 2020

A wonderful display of Speed, Strength and Precision... A big CONGRATULATIONS to all the students who tried their very best at the 2020 Chrysalis Athletics Carnival. We certainly have some speedy students who could further their athletics ability in coming years. After practicing regularly this term, some of the students surprised themselves with the distance of their throws in shot put and javelin. It is great to see the students really push themselves past their comfort zones. The novelty events are always surprisingly popular with all ages at the carnival. THANK YOU to Class 8 Helpers particularly Poe, Heidi, Milo and Kye who worked tirelessly.…
