Whilst our attention is drawn to the ferocity of the fires, there can be a number of cascading impacts that we should be aware of. Dear Chrysalis Community, Whilst the bushfire situation has eased toward the end of the week, we will most likely experience further disruption in the weeks leading up to the end of term. Major fires are a continuing menace to the north and south of Bellingen Shire, with the threat level impacted by the weather. Class 8 project presentation evening 2019
Gather this Friday 8th November from 6pm to take in the the beautiful presentation tables in Maam Gamambiya (the school hall), followed by the students presenting their achievements from 6:30pm. The Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa O’Donnell as Chrysalis’ Education Director, commencing Term 2 2020. Lisa is currently the Teaching Principal of Blue Mountains Steiner School, and comes to Chrysalis with a wealth of Steiner and outdoor education experience, which spans 25 years. The Class 5 Greek Olympics
After weeks of practicing our Class 5 excelled themselves at the Greek Olympics held in Byron Bay amongst 100s of other class 5 students from Steiner schools from the north coast region. The students complete the athletic challenges in olympic games the way the Greeks completed them when the Olympic games first began 1000s of years ago. For example they complete long jump from a stationary position, wrestling, javelin, discuss and marathons as if they are delivering a message. Chicken Pox is current in our school community…
Chicken Pox is infectious from 2-3 days before the spots appear until all the spots are dried up. Usually Chicken Pox is a mild disease with few complications except in those who are immunocompromised. In rare cases in can cause complications if contracted in the first 20 weeks of pregnancy or is present at birth via the mother. It can be spread by either having direct contact with the person who has chickenpox, from coughed or sneezed fluids or by touching the liquid from the blisters. Dorrigo Donations
The school has been advised that the Dorrigo Evacuation Centre now has sufficient clothing donations to help out those affected by the fires, and as the disaster has now been classified as a section 44 emergency there is a lot more support from the government who will be financially supporting the costs of food bills. If people want to donate, a new account has been set up at BCU. This will be a fund that will help the community when they are no longer covered by emergency funding.
