After weeks of practicing our Class 5 excelled themselves at the Greek Olympics held in Byron Bay amongst 100s of other class 5 students from Steiner schools from the north coast region. The students complete the athletic challenges in olympic games the way the Greeks completed them when the Olympic games first began 1000s of years ago.  For example they complete long jump from a stationary position, wrestling, javelin, discuss and marathons as if they are delivering a message. Chicken Pox is infectious from 2-3 days before the spots appear until all the spots are dried up. Usually Chicken Pox is a mild disease with few complications except in those who are immunocompromised. In rare cases in can cause complications if contracted in the first 20 weeks of pregnancy or is present at birth via the mother. It can be spread by either having direct contact with the person who has chickenpox, from coughed or sneezed fluids or by touching the liquid from the blisters. As Kym, the school's Music Coordinator, explained at today's music assembly as the students explore new instruments and genres, part of their learning includes bringing music that interests them to their tutors.
