Class 2 Term 3

Happenings in Class 2 This term has brought many learning experiences to the children in Class Two. The term commenced with the ‘Saintly Lives’ Main Lesson and the children heard a variety of stories about those who demonstrated qualities such as love, hope, courage, strength and more. Whilst learning about these wonderful people, we continued to take steps in developing our skills in literacy, and many learning milestones were had in the classroom. From here we continued our adventures with King Counting and the square city that he developed in his kingdom. The children continued developing their skills in numeracy…

Class 1 Term 3

Winter Reflections Our Class 1 community has melded like molten rock; they work, play, move, sing and dream together, and each individual member of the class is growing more confident and relaxed in themselves. The children are writing and practicing their lower-case letters in large and small print, in the air and acting out the letters by sitting on the tables. Exploring the direction of each of the 26 letters, some are ground dwellers that curl up tight, others reach high to the sky and then there are divers that dive down into the ocean depths. Oh, then there is…

River Song Term 3

Greetings from River Song Now with the wattle ball and dollies tea party behind us, we are welcoming Lady Spring and preparing for our involvement in the whole school festival at the Maypole green. As the children bound into Spring, their bodies are lengthening and stretching out. They are all gaining more control of their physical movements and becoming a little more aware of how they affect others. They all seem to have a growing understanding of what is right and wrong and all of them are involved in helping sort out things that happen along the way. Whether a…

Morning Star Term 3

At Morning Star we love to celebrate the seasons through poetry, songs, dances, morning circles, painting, drawing and craft activities. So with the transition from winter to spring, Term 3 has kept us very busy. We started the term with our wood cutters Morning Circle and the children enjoyed carrying their wooden stump axe around, stomping through the woods to gather the fire wood to keep us warm. They delighted in the imagery of Jack Frost with his “cloak of Silver, his hat of shimmery white, his wand of glistening star dust and his shoes of moonbeams bright”. Through our…

Enormous fundraising success – well done Class 6

Dear Colleagues, Parents and Friends, On behalf of myself and Class 6, an enormous heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming show of support for the Class 6 Fundraising event on Friday. The Cake Stall raised just over $360.00. In this success, many seeds for future endeavours of giving have been planted. It has been my intention for my students to understand the true value of money, where ever you live in the world. For Class 6 to begin to understand that money holds different value for each individual they needed to experience, in a very tangible way what $5 means here…

‘Spending, Saving, Earning’… and Fundraising!

Cake stall this Friday 9th June... Class 6 teacher - Liz Sheppard This semester my class went deeply into 'Spending, Saving and Earning' in Mathematics. To deepen this experience for the students and to empower them to see the place money has in their lives and the lives of others, I invited a class parent to come and speak to my students about the fundraising work she was involved in with those living in poverty in Swaziland. Mandy captured the students hearts with such a beautiful picture of how they could make a difference to the people of Swaziland. My…
